Stroke Study Replaces Pediatric StudyBack in February of 2000, the Regional Quality Improvement committee decided to add Pediatrics (age 6 and under) to the studies that were being done. This was approved by STREMAC, and has been continued for eight years. As a result of that study, an inservice on Pediatric Assessment was developed and made available to all EMS personnel in the region.Recent QI data reports show that for the last two years all indicators for Pediatric patients are in the "Acceptable" range (i.e., at or above regional and national standards). The Regional Quality Improvement Committee requested approval from STREMAC to discontinue this study, effective immediately, and to begin a Stroke study, which was approved by the STREMAC. Stroke fallouts include No Narcan for AMS; No stroke scale; No Thiamine; No GCS; Documentation; No ALS to patient. New forms are available for agency reporting, minus the Pediatric line, and including a line for Stroke reporting. The form can be downloaded from the EMSTAR website, at www.emstar.org/Form 508.pdf or is available from your Area QI Coordinator. Area QI Coordinators:
