Emergency Medical Technician

EMS Education is available throughout Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben counties with multiple training locations.

The EMT training course includes a mixture of practical and lecture-based instruction. Students will be required to demonstrate competence in practical skills as well as on written examinations.
Functional Position Description- Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)

All students enrolled in an EMT-Original class are required to complete a minimum of ten (10) hours of clinical time.  This time may be accomplished at affiliate ride sites and/or hospitals

Students who successfully complete all course requirements will take the NYS EMT-Basic Certification exam.

Required Pre-requisites
National Standards require that all providers either prior to the start of class or as a co-requisite of the class complete the following FEMA classes:
IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-5.A: An Introduction to Hazardous Materials
