American Heart Association Course Offerings
Our American Heart Association programs are designed to reach all types of learners. They combine lecture, video, group discussion and hands-on training. We can customize the program for your specific training needs. If you would like more information regarding one of our courses or need to schedule a class for a group,please call 607-732-2354 x105
All classes are held at EMSTAR, 1058 West Church Street, Elmira NY or we can come to you with a minimum of 6 participants required.

BLS for Healthcare Provider Course Overview:
The BLS for Healthcare Provider course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillation.
For those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirement such as healthcare providers, EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and childcare centers who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.
4 - 4.5 hour course with written exam and skills test. AHA BLS for healthcare providers course completion card – 2 years

- CPR mask issued in class
- BLS HCP text are available for purchase or loan- Stop by the EMSTAR office between 8am and 4pm to pick up

Heartsaver First Aid Course Overview:
The Heartsaver First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Course content includes general principles, medical emergencies, and injury emergencies.
For those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.
7 hour course CPR, AED & First Aid—all modules. Call the EMSTAR office to schedule a class.
3 hour course:
-First Aid only:
-$54/person off site (class minimum 6)
-H.S. First Aid text are available for purchase or loan- Stop by the EMSTAR office between 8am and 4pm to pick up

Heartsaver AED Course Overview:
The Heartsaver AED course teaches CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults, children and infants and the use of barrier devices for all ages.
For business establishments, the general public and private babysitters.
3—3.5 hour course with skills test. AHA Heartsaver AED course completion card – 2 year

Family & Friends – Self-Taught Course:
The Family & Friends CPR program teaches how to perform CPR in adults, children and infants and how to help an adult, child, or infant who is choking.
Family members, friends and members of the general community who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card.
Participation card included.
