A grant has been received, allowing EMSTAR to offer a PALS Orginal 2-day course on October 16-17, 2010. Applicants must be advanced EMS providers in the Southern Tier or Emergency Department personnel (RN/PA/MD/DO) in the region's hospitals.

| Through the ACLS course, healthcare providers will enhance their skills in the treatment of a cardiac arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. For emergency critical care healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professional’s who may need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency. | HeartCode ACLS is an interactive self-directed learning program which completes all cognitive requirements for the American Heart Association ACLS Course. | To teach students how to perform the cognitive and psychomotor skills for resuscitation and stabilizing infants and children in respiratory failure, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest. Skills in bag-mask ventilation, management of airway, defibrillation and cardioversion, use of AED’s for children and rhythm management are emphasized. A modular approach is provided. Pediatricians, house staff, emergency physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, nurse practitioner’s, physician assistants and other healthcare providers who are responsible for responding to emergencies in infants and children. |
